Charity auction with Adrian Paul, Stan Kirsch, Gillian Horvath,
Donna Lettow & F. Braun McAsh
Photos by Dianne Smith
Item 1.
AP: This is Hans Kershner's sword from "Modern Prometheus." This
is the one that clipped me in the eye. If I give a demonstration
the price goes up $50. [Eventually the bidding tied at $400.] I
want you to both come up here and whisper in my ear what you would
bid. The best bid wins. [Bidders whisper.] $700!

Item 2.
AP: What have we here? This is the new poster the first
one I signed. Let's start with a bid of $10. [Bidding works its
way up. As the bidding tops $200, Adrian begins letting the shirt
slide from his left shoulder. Bidding goes higher. The audience
whistles, cheers and tells him to take off the shirt.] If the shirt
comes off, it goes at $600... $600 bucks! I'll take the shirt off!
[He does and winces at the smell under his arms. Gillian makes a
remark from the side of the stage.] Well, what do you expect? I've
been signing autographs all morning. [Note: The purchaser of this
item never came forward to claim it, and they had to resell it later.]
Item 3.
AP: These are my swords from "Duende." Let's start the bidding
at $300. They're a matched set. The blade of the sword is aluminum.
The dagger is solid steel. [The winning bid is $1200.]
AP: Now the shirt goes back on. [Crowd groans.] Now I'm going to
Audience: Auction the shirt!
AP: But I can't get another one. I can always get another sword.
[Stan walked on stage this point.]
SK: What is this? I come in the room, and you've got your shirt
off?

Item 4.
AP: This is the sword used against me in "Duende," the sword used
by Anthony DeLongis' character. Do you know why there are those
serrations on the blade? They're there because they hurt. If you're
cut, you won't heal properly. They leave a nice scar. [Bidding started
at $200 and closed at $650.]
Item 5.
SK: This is the sword used for my character... This sword is well-used.
It's bent. It's warped. This sword has seen some action.
AP: Unlike its owner. [Bidding starts at $150. It grows sluggishly.]
SK: Maybe I should take my shirt off?
AP: He had a wax last week.
SK: What about you?
AP: [Pulls the tank top slightly from his chest and chuckles.]
Ask for a thousand.

SK: They won't give $800. What makes you think they'll give a thousand?
[To the crowd] Is this why Adrian was taking his clothes off?...
Look, for $1300 we'll answer the question: boxers or briefs? [Bidding
soars.]
AP: He said we'll answer the question.
SK: [Pulls down waistband of pants slightly and sneaks a peek.]
Boxers!
AP: Briefs.

SK: That's the fundamental difference between Adrian and me. I'm
hanging loose, and he's packed up tight... Adrian thinks I'd get
$1500 if I beheaded him. [Bidding rises.] Adrian's going to get
on his knees.
AP: I'm not used to that position. [AP and SK assume positions.
SK gently brings sword near AP's neck for just an instant.] Fooled
ya!
SK: $1500 once, twice, three times. Sold!

Item 6.
McASH: This is Silas' ax. It's one of Silas' two axes for the Bronze
Age. I designed it myself. It doesn't exist in any period. Let's
start the bidding at $100... It's aluminum, not steel, but it does
a good job on the mailman.... [Bidding closed at $650.]
Item 7.
AP: This was Carter Whelan's sword in "End of Innocence." [Bidding
starts at $200.]
SK: I fought [him], and I won!
AP: I'm not going to comment on that. I'm deaf; I'm not stupid.
[Stan snorts. Adrian looks at him.]
SK: Just testing the deafness.

AP: It was also used in "Rite of Passage." It was used in two episodes.
[Bidding moves, but not fast enough for the auctioneers. At $400,
the Stan and Adrian show gets into gear.]
SK: It's time to get naked, Adrian.
AP: Go ahead. [Sword goes for $1100.]
SK: Disrobing at $400. I just thought you were a better negotiator.
AP: You never talked to my agent.
Item 8. (Formerly Item 2.)
AP: We're rebidding the first one off the press. [Bidding starts
at $100.] I'll write whatever you want on it. [Poster goes for $600.
Again.]
Item 9.
AP: This is a picture of me and my four dogs one of which
isn't here anymore, and three of which I don't have any more. [Picture
goes for $100.]

Item 10.
AP: These are Liz Gracen's shoes from the tango on the [Eiffel]
Tower. What size are these? They look awfully big... It's tango
time, baby. She signed them too.
SK: Who wants some used pumps? Adrian will sign them too. I see
that makes a big difference. Adrian will model them in fishnets...
Item 11.
AP: This is the mask from "Little Tin God."
GILLIAN: I know this makes a difference David Hasselhoff
did not sign it. It's a real prop.
[Earlier, Gillian had tried to auction a rescue buoy from Baywatch
(the show she is now working on), autographed by its castmembers,
but no one would bid on it.]

Item 12.
SK: [A fan] gave us this little plastic sword and we're selling
it back to you. Let's start the bidding at $50. [Someone in the
audience starts yelling their bid and frantically waving their arms.]
I'm not deaf. He's the deaf one.
AP: But he's stupid. Thank you, Stan. You gave me that one.
SK: Too many quickenings too early in the day and you peter out.
Audience: I'll bid $500, but you have to pose with two teenagers.
AP: That's fair.
[Stan and Adrian leave. Donna and Gillian take over the stage.]

Item 13.
DONNA: And now we've got one of those infamous Coke cans. [It's
actually a Pepsi can.] "I drank this at the con!" signed with an
exclamation point by Peter Wingfield.
GILLIAN: Ginger Buchanan has a theory about these Coke cans. Just
a little bit of saliva and you can start the cloning process. How
much to start the cloning process for Peter Wingfield?...
DONNA: $200 going twice for a little taste of Peter Wingfield.
Sold!
Item 14.
GILLIAN: Here we've got an original script with all the changes,
signed by Peter Wingfield, Marcus Testory [Caspian] and Valentine
Pelka [Kronos]. [The script goes for $300.]
Item 15.
GILLIAN: Here we have tickets for the fall Highlander Cruise for
two.
Audience: Are any stars are going to be on the cruise?
GILLIAN: I don't know. But it's worth $2000, so I think you should
start the bidding at $50 at least. [The tickets go for $1000.]
